About the Artist
I hope that through my art others may explore their own connection with nature, spirituality and inner passions”. Cynthia West

I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska and am part of 5 generations who call Fairbanks Alaska home. My grandfather homesteaded in interior Alaska in the 1940's.
My inspiration comes from nature and being surrounded by such incredible beauty. I am attracted to the organic shapes found in nature and love the flowers and the colors that we find in the summer. I am currently working on a new bright new series of paintings in Cocoa Florida and am part of the Carol Seiler and Friends Gallery in historic Cocoa Village Florida. My most current work can also be found in display in Central Florida through the Bevard Cultural Alliance Art in Public Places program. My work is also on public display at the University Of Alaska, Fairbanks Summer Sessions Office and Fairbanks City Hall. I am continually amazed by how even the smallest flower is filled with unique shapes and delightful curves. Through my art, I hope to help the viewer can see even the smallest, or most common flower in a new way. I create large images of the most fascinating areas of the bloom using oil paints on cotton. My goal is to create a place with my art for the viewer's spirit to discover and explore. |
